Sometimes, I don't want to go outside or deal with the messes from messy play.
Hi! I'm Natalie Lloyd.
I’m a mom of two children. Early on, I noticed how much calmer life was after we had spent time outside. We also spent a lot of time engaged in messy play.
As my kids are growing, I know outside time and messy play both still have a calming effect on them. Sometimes, I just do NOT want to go outside. I started Milkweed and Messes in order to inspire more reluctant families to play messier and get outdoors daily. Science is catching up and proving what we know to be true: most of us aren’t getting enough outside time or free play time.
Let’s change that together!
Encouraging a child to go outside in all weather builds resilience, but more importantly, it saves them from spending their life merely tolerating the ‘bad’ days in favor of a handful of ‘good’ ones – a life of endless expectations and conditions where happiness hinges on sunshine.” – Nicolette Sowder
