Sometimes, my kids want to stay inside all day. Screens are so alluring and after the monstrosities of recent years, the desire to stay inside is actually even more difficult to resist. I’ve learned that when the kids want to go outside, just go! So when my daughter wanted to take the scooter around the neighborhood at 10:45 one night, I said yes.

It’s okay to fail.
Most of the world is focused on success, which is great. We all benefit from the success of companies or individuals who have created something that improves our lives born of their own creativity, knowledge, or the special something that makes them unique. How did these amazing success stories come about? Did they have an idea and then become successful by magic?
Of course not.
Wintertime doesn’t mean the end of spending time outdoors with your kids. After it snows is one of my favorite times to get outside and play until we are ready to drop. What cool activities are there to do if you want to stay home and just play outside? There is so much stuff to do in winter that’s family friendly and a lot of fun.
Let’s check out fun things to do in winter with kids!
Rainy days aren’t very common in our region of Mexico, so we appreciate them. Rainy days are celebrated the way kids should celebrate rainy days. Filled with rain dances, puddle jumping, and general enjoyment. We love the days that have rain. What does this have to do with worms?
If you want to shake up your outside time a little, try making some crafts. Here is an easy nature mask craft for kids – a found item leaf mask! These can be made in several ways and toddlers through older kids (and adults) will enjoy this activity. If you allow the creativity to flow, you may find your kids take your idea, change it, and run off in their own direction with it. This creativity is a very good thing!
It’s okay to go outside. It’s okay to continue to be wild. The recent news invites us to panic and to change our daily habits. Even though our normal routines were disrupted, it’s okay to go outside. It’s okay to go for walks, play in backyards, or spend some time in the front yard.
Yes, even with the chaos of right now. Especially right now.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons to get outside. The weather in Ohio is usually crisp and sunny. The mornings are cool, but I often find I’m shedding layers by the afternoon. Autumn weather in central Mexico is similar (except it never freezes). I’m always looking out for great fall activities for kids outside!
It has been a struggle lately to get outside. I’m often met with whining and crying when I suggest it. It’s often easier to just stay indoors than deal with the challenges of actually getting outside.
First, it seems like no one is ever dressed. I have to find clothes and socks for both children, encouragement to get dressed or dress them if that’s what they want, and then go outside. Sometimes, the furthest we go is our front porch.
I’ve failed, I desperately think during those moments. My kids hate the outdoors!
